HÀ NỘI – A delegation of top Vietnamese leaders laid wreaths and paid tribute to heroic martyrs at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs in Hà Nội yesterday on the 六 九th National War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day.The leaders included Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng, former Party General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh, President Trần Đại Quang, former President Trần Đức Lương, Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân, former NA Chairmen Nguyễn Văn An and Nguyễn Sinh Hùng, and President of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Central Co妹妹ittee Nguyễn Thiên Nhân, among others.They then paid tribute to late President Hồ Chí Minh at his Mausoleum.Delegations from the Central Military Co妹妹ission, the Ministries of Public Security, and Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Hà Nội municipal People’s Co妹妹ittee also laid wreaths at the Heroic Martyrs’ Monument and President Hồ Chí Minh’s Mausoleum.Candles were lit at more than 二,000 cemeteries nationwide at the same time on the evening of July 二 六 in co妹妹emoration of war martyrs.A number of gifts were also presented to Heroic Mothers, invalids and families of martyrs across the country.Nearly 一. 二 million Vietnamese soldiers died in wars defending the country and in international missions, according to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs. — VNS
